NZ SYRAH WORKSHOP
Bayview Chateau Tongariro, Mt Ruapehu
Wednesday 1st (midday) to Friday 3rd November 2017 (early afternoon)

Join together with fellow winemakers and growers to taste, discuss and evaluate recent finished vintages and current barrel samples in a collegial environment with the aim of improving the understanding of the Syrah variety, in the absence of the wine media. Flights of international wines will be tasted and commented upon.

We realise there have been difficulties financially in the industry but comments from past attendees of the Workshop indicate that this is a conference which has been of tremendous value to those attending.
Tony Robb of Corbans who has received a number of accolades with his Syrah from winewriters, and won several Trophies, believes "for what is a relatively new variety for me, I can attribute this success to the huge amount I have learned from other winemakers at the Syrah Workshop, and mark it on the calendar as the one event that I have to attend every year".

Chris Scott of Church Road believes "that the Syrah Workshop is the most relevant and focused winery conference I attend every year and the one I push hardest to attend". "The Syrah Workshop is a great learning opportunity - the program is always focused and the discussions during the barrel tastings and over dinner are very constructive - I am always amazed and pleased at how willing people are to share their experience and experiences, (good and bad)…. And tasting your own wine, blind, in an extensive line up from the same vintage is invaluable.

If you make or grow Syrah in New Zealand then you should attend" - is the feedback from Adam Hazeldine of Babich Wines.
Warren Gibson of Trinity Hill adds: "I find on leaving the workshop that I have been stimulated to improve my current production techniques and to utilize the positive discussion points of the workshop. It can be easy to think that what you have been doing in the Winery and Vineyard in the past is best but an event like this helps to disprove this".

Our celebrity chef will present a wonderful 3 course meal on the Wednesday evening and again create a highlight of the workshop on Thursday; the Syrah Dinner, where guests will be able to produce their 'treasures from the cellar' to match the incredible seven courses.
